What you'll do:
- Lead FEM-based product optimization projects for mattresses, bed frames, and related accessories.
- Develop and implement simulation strategies across the full product lifecycle – from concept to production.
- Validate simulation models through physical testing using inspection equipment and our in-house laboratory.
- Create detailed test plans for FEM analysis, data acquisition, model calibration, and correlation studies.
- Interpret and present simulation results to internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Act as a subject matter expert in material properties, 3D CAD design, and FEM pre-/post-processing.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
- Introduce new technologies and methodologies, such as non-linear material modeling, multiphysics simulations, or AI-assisted optimization.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality results in line with project goals and customer expectations.
Who we're looking for:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in FEM, ideally within consumer product development or soft materials.
- Advanced proficiency in FEA tools such as Abaqus, HyperMesh, Solid Edge; scripting experience (Python, MATLAB) is a plus.
- Strong background in complex FEM analyses: non-linear, transient, fatigue, thermomechanical.
- Familiarity with soft materials like foam, elastomers, plastics, and gels – especially in the context of sleep products.
- Solid understanding of FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and related quality and risk assessment methodologies.
- Strong critical thinking skills and a structured approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent analytical skills and a high level of autonomy and initiative. Strong communication skills – able to convey technical insights clearly and persuasively.
- Fluent in English; Chinese language skills are a plus, German is beneficial.
